About the Book: Coal mining and other forms of resource extraction play an important role in Nova Scotia's cultural memory, especially in places like Pictou County and Cape Breton. How do we remember the coal mining industry, especially the stories we might prefer to forget? This book explores how literature and popular culture comes to grips with the province's history of industrial development and its lingering effects on the landscape, bodies, and communities of northern Nova Scotia.
