Book Launch & Children's Book Reading, Pictou Library, 1-3 p.m. All welcome to drop by and join us this afternoon, with the Pictou Bee Press as they share their latest children's picture book, "Big Rory of Market Square". This heart-warming story was inspired by the tradition of the Scottish storyteller. It features tales about the good ship Hector, The Year of the Mice, two local giants, and the colourful policeman, Peachie Carroll. These stories are largely derived from the rich history of Nova Scotia. The main character, Big Rory, is an old cat with a fondness for storytelling and shortbreads. He is based on a black and white cat who lives in the author’s garden. Showing that sometimes the best tales and the best characters can be found in your own backyard, Rory will leave a big paw print on your heart with his memorable yarns and endearing ways.
